Hold Pressure

Question: A 24 year old woman undergoes septoplasty for nasal obstruction. Surgery was uncomplicated and Doyle splints were placed to prevent postoperative septal hematoma. She asks her surgeon why splints were placed instead of a “quilting suture,” which she heard can be used. The surgeon states that the risk of hematoma is lower using splints. Based on available literature, is this true or false?
