Sound Bites

Question:  A 34 year old male comes to your office for sudden hearing loss occurring 2 weeks ago.  He has no significant medical history.  You perform an intratympanic steroid injection and recommend oral steroids, but he refuses, citing side effects he experienced from a prior steroid burst and taper.  He returns to your office 3 days later at the request of his girlfriend as she noted asymmetry in his smile.  You obtain additional history and discover that he was on a recent camping trip in the northwoods of Minnesota.  What is the leading diagnosis? [Answer will be posted with next week's new question]

Answer to last week's question, "Don't Cry For Me" (February 6, 2017)
